Christine Byrne writes:
It was a great joy to meet the 10 participants who had travelled from Ireland, Scotland, Finland and Germany, as well as from various regions in England, to take part in the course held in August at Ampleforth Abbey.
As Fr. Laurence often says, I was meeting for the first time brothers and sisters that I did not know I had. And it did not take long at all before that special characteristic which the ministry has – of fostering deep relationships – was making itself felt.
It was inspiring to witness the expectant faith of the participants as they described what they wanted the Lord to do for them and then to see people experiencing transformation throughout the week.
The Abbey proved to be a popular venue for many reasons, including the stunning Yorkshire countryside, the Grange guesthouse set apart from the monastery with its upper room where we met for Mass and Adoration each day, lovely food, and the opportunity to join the monks for prayer in the Abbey Church.
The array of talents displayed during the social evening produced much laughter and awe as we were treated to drama, dance and song.
